Former Sen. Ted Kaufman, a Maryland Democrat and close aide to Sen. John Edwards on the Clinton Foundation board, announced his resignation as chief of staff to Bill Clinton earlier this year. This past Saturday, Kaufman told MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell that he will vote for Hillary Clinton in 2016. The New York Times also reports that on June 7, 2016, Kaufman filed a Federal Election Commission nomination as a Clinton Super-PAC. There are many questions about whether or not Kaufman had permission to file as a Clinton Super-PAC. A number of allegations has been floating around regarding Kaufman’s tenure with the Edwards campaign and whether or not he was given official campaign email addresses. (I have not found any evidence that Kaufman had permission to send or receive emails on this account or that any campaign communications were diverted to this account.)
